"Gathering @ The Autism High-Heel Hike Pictures" :S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom Shares her Pictures from Jules Burt's High Heel Hike for Autism Awareness

Hello  S.M.A.A.R.T.Moms!

Thank You sooooo much for joining my Team  Dawn, Sharon, Celeste, and Angel. I really appreciate your support for autism. You are such good friends:) I'm sure  Dustin is very Proud to have you each in his life. For my Moms that wanted to be there, but couldn't....Be sure you get on my email list so that you will know when and where the next Autism Walk, Autism Run,or High Heel Hike for Autism I'll be Attending.
I  have attended quite a few Autism Walks and Runs, but never a High Heel Hike until recently. I have always enjoyed these
events, but I have to admit it wasn't until I found out from Donna of A.S.G.O. about Jules Burt's High Heel Hike for Autism Awareness. I instantly thought to myself " It's like someone was thinking of ME. I Love & Live in my Heels!" So of course anyone who really knows me understands when I say this:) I had to join and start my S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom TEAM. It was so great to be able to walk in my heels showing my support for autism and my son Dustin. It was a different experience, but very memorable. I really encourage all of you S.M.A.A.R.T.Moms to come to the next High Heel Hike. It's a great opportunity to meet other Fabulous Moms  who also have a loved one with autism.  It was a chance to have Fun, Laugh,Walk a Red Carpet and Talk to Moms who ARE walking in you shoes. This was a chance to Talk about Autism....  Here you are NOT Alone. Everyone here understands how living with Autism can be. Belonging is a comforting feeling isn'tit? So please try to join S.M.AA.R.T. Mom next year after all  Moms like us can never have too many friends.
Thanks for a wonderful experience Jules, it was a Pleasure meeting you;) You are an Angel sent to us from Heaven:) I'll see you next year!
Hope to see more of you ladies next time.......Enjoy my pictures in the mean time.
Take Care! Angela

" Autism Motivation Video" :S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom's Online "Mommy Time-Out" Video for MAY: The Back-Up Bunny

S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom: Strong Mothers Altering Autism's Reality Together

"Mothers Coming Together to Think OutsideThe Box of Autism Behaviors"

S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom talks about "The Back-Up Bunny".
Walking in a mom's shoes of a child, teen, or adult with autism can needless
to say call for A LOT of patience and quick thinking on a daily basis. Motivating an individual who has autism isn't always the easiest; so here's this months Mothers Day (I Hope) beneficial gift from one mom to another. I hope this helps you like it has for me. Until Then. Take Care. Angela

"Portable Time-Out Helpers & Autism Video" :S.M.A.A.R.T. MOM'S March Online "Mommy & ME Time-Out"

Hello Again and Thanks so much for joining me for S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom's March Online "Mommy Time-Out". I have posted three interactive buttons below for you to click on. Of course the first is the "S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom"
Button: This will bring you to My March Online Video. After you view the video you may want to click on one
or both of the buttons: The Time-Out Mat and/or The Polder Timer. Both are portable and wonderful for placing
your loved one in Time-Out at that moment while you are in public, rather than when you get home. I mean
lets face it.....by the time you get home; your loved one with autism has basically forgotten all about what he/she did
by the time your home. This is a way to confront the inappropriate behavior at that moment.
I just find a spot where he is not in the way of people and start my timer for 10 mins. By the way, I originally started him off at 3 mins. Time-Outs are difficult to do as most of us know. I usually place the timer in Boo Bear's hand and let him watch the numbers count down. He just loves the way it Vibrates and Lights up when his time is up. Just an extra note. This timer has also come in handy for activity transitions as well. I basically give him a "heads up". I'll set the timer and say, "You have 30 more minutes until we have
to turn off the computer and get ready to eat dinner". I set the timer and place it near him. Heads Up for these guys  really
make things easier. Rushing them defnitely doesn't work well with them. The timer also comes in handy for when we HAVE
to wait in lines, etc. So I hope these two portable helpers are as useful to you as they have been for me.
Please Note: that there will not be an April "Mommy Time-Out" due to April is the month for AUTISM AWARENESS.
Please instead use this month to share and Talk about Autism. Until then, I Hope you'll come back and visit me in May.
Take Care. Angela
