You just never know where you'll be Greeted by the Autism Welcomed Decal Symbol. A little symbol who has been placed at entrances all over Florida and other States; it even has a home in Canada now :)Considering this is the Month of Thankfulness; Not to mention I have more than enough videos to share (LOL). I've decided to share a Video Every Day for the month of November of places who I'm Thankful to for giving the Autism Welcomed Decal Symbol a "Permanent Home!" Without these Heart-Warming Wonderful Places, Opening Doors, Opening Hearts, & Creating Smiles; it would not be possible to visibly touch our Lives on a Day To Day Basis. So, to start, ((Huge Hugs & Thank You)) to: Mirino's Pizza & Subs in Deland , Florida! I just love the ending of this video! Happy Thanksgiving in Advance :) #SMAARTMom #AutismWelcomedDecal
S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom: Strong Mothers Altering Autism's Reality Together "Mothers Coming Together to Think Outside the Box of Autism Behaviors" "Grocery Shopping with Autism: Come & Walk in S.M.A.A.R.T.Mom's Shoes" Thanks for joining me for a video that I am finally able to mend together. This Video "Time"Out" was initially created in Jan of 2011, however, even though my Dustin (autistic) is 20 yrs old presently, I still use the chart to help get me through those dreaded grocery stores with My Dustin :)
Jan.1, 2011: "I know I'm late getting this out to all of you Strong and Creative Moms; but unfortunately Boo bear has had some issues with ear infections again. But on the other hand I've finally found success in the Toilet Training area. No Dustin isn't fully potty trained. I know most people just assume at 14 yrs old; he is. Well "P" came at the age of 7yrs. old. But the other......well like I said; "I'm 14yrs OVER it!" (LOL) Anyway, if you want to find out how I managed that one....you'll have to come back and see me for January's Mommy Time-Out. But for now here's video where seeing is believing ;watch how S.M.A.A.R.T. Mom gets through the grocery store with Dustin having NO Melt-Downs AND still is able to get everything on her grocery list. Hope this helps you has much has it has helped us." Take Care. ((BIG HUGS!)) #SMAARTMom #AutismWelcomedDecal
What a pleasant surprise for the Autism Welcomed Decal! An invite to participate in its "1st" OASN Super Hero Autism Walk in Ocala, FL!! How exciting! So of course you know I had to create a video (LOL) I hope everyone enjoys it.....I do put my heart in to each video. Of course this one, is no different :) I want to send a HUGE HUG & Sincerest Thanks to: OASN's Karen, Terry, Chris, Lori, Stacie, Carolina, Joanne, Rose, Gail, AnnMarie, Sholom Park, and of course All of the Wonderful People and Places that made Today's Super Hero Autism Walk Possible! There were so many places to recognize, I do apologize if I missed anyone. In Closing, it was so AMAZING to share this with all of the people that came out. Whether it was to participate or to just have a chance to be a Super Hero; We're so thrilled to have hugged each of you! Until Next Time.....Have a Super Hero kind of Day!
"Trying to Get Through Another Year" by, S.M.A.A.R.T.Mom (Strong Mothers Altering Autism's Reality Together) Happy 4th of July ! It's 2017' Well here we go trying to get our Dustin once again to come outside to watch the Fireworks , which we call Disney Lights , so that it doesn't seem so scary to Dustin. With most individuals who have autism, this holiday is far from exciting. It can be scary, upsetting, and cause a lot of anxiety. This is just one of the things on top of venturing in to public places that we've tried to help Dustin either over come or tolerate. He's come a long way from staying in his room hiding under his blankets while holding me and shaking to.... "Today" , where Dustin willingly goes outside and watches the display from inside our vehicle, usually :) What may be baby steps to some of you , I rather consider them to be huge stepping stones to a much Braver Dustin. As a mother , it has taken me over 15 years before I could actually watch the fireworks myself, rather than comforting my Dustin and missing every year's light show. So , if you are one of those Parents who missed the Lights this year because of those Autism Fears/Melt-Downs.....You're not alone. I feel what that's like 100% :) This Video is especially for you! Here's to YOU , Your Brave son/daughter, and to a better 4th of July next year. Be patient, it'll come :) We don't always have a good turn-out ourselves with Dustin who is 21yrs old this August. But, we will continue to "Try" and Always remain Hopeful. BIG HUGS! #SMAARTMom#AutismWelcomedDecal
S.M.A.A.R.T.Mom is always looking for a "New Permanent Home" for the Autism Welcomed Decal Symbol.

This is not an organization, group, or charity and I AM NOT ASKING FOR DONATIONS. Call me Crazy, but I'd Rather Create Smiles :) This decal is simply a "symbol" expressing that YOU are there for families living with autism and autism individuals on a day to day basis. Have you Welcomed Autism Today? ( ATTENTION: Autism Families, please know that some of these places may be Loud, Bright, or Even Crowded. The idea is to Feel Welcomed , but at the same time to help our special guys/girls learn to cope and withstand those things while in many public places. So with the help of these WONDERFUL People and Places they have shared their Smiles with the Autism Welcomed Smile. This heart-felt "Symbol" expressing one thing…. " Autism Families, We know it took Courage to come out today,We Understand, & We've Got Your Back!" )
Each place that gives the decal a home and sends me their picture, logo, comment, etc has done this with approval of Mgr./Owner/Corporation and by sending their AWD Photo with the decal they are aware of the purpose of the picture/video and concede that I will own the rights to these images for this purpose only in addition to receiving their AWD Photo copy. The places that have shared their Smile Pictures are NOT AFFILIATED with the decal and typically aren't sensory friendly. They are simply places that have opened their hearts to our special families.
" I can't help but Smile myself, when I see the Autism Welcomed Decal at the entrance of a place Smiling back at me with that comforting smile on the symbol that simply says, Autism Welcomed !" Thank You S.M.A.A.R.T.Mom!
